NEPES at Boston COLLEGE

NEPES is excited to announce the call for papers for the 2024 annual meeting to take place on October 5 at Boston College. With this call, NEPES invites participants to work towards engagement across ideological divides in the midst of the Presidential election and to reflect on the moral urgency of sustaining our discourses, practices, and pedagogies regarding democracy as a way of life. This call for papers strives to engage diverse voices across the region in conversations. At a moment where only “30 percent of millennials see democracy as ‘essential,’” the task ahead of us, as keynote speaker Danielle Allen (2023) compellingly describes it, is one of democracy renovation (p. 6). Furthermore, and as always, we invite paper and panel proposals on any topic that deepens our collective understanding of philosophy and education. Submissions are due on June 2nd.
